Erectile dysfunction medications seized in Glengormley

8 April 2011

Large quantities of unlicensed medications have been seized by Department of Health officials throughout a search of a house in Glengormley.

A man was spoken with by department officers about unlawfully importing and subsequently providing unlicensed impotence through the web.

The 47-year-old was likewise questioned about other medicine offences.

He will now be the subject of a report to the general public Prosecution Service.

The search was carried out by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its senior enforcement office, Peter Moore, said: "It is important that we get the message across that unlicensed medicines can be unsafe.

"These kinds of products being sold, generally online, have actually gone through no quality assurance and there can be no warranty about their safety.

"You just do not know what you are taking or the conditions these products were made in. More significantly, you do not know the impact drugs like this may have on your health."
